There are some primary reasons for more frequent validation:

1. As companies move to a SaaS model, they lose control over when changes are made to their environment.
2. Security issues are being found at an ever-increasing rate and therefore need to be patched.
3. Companies pay for software that is always introducing new features and waiting for the next validation cycle to take advantage of the new features is a waste of money.

While it is true that many companies have teams that technically could handle this work, it is not in the company's best interest to do so.
